Cromwell Man Arrested For Allegedly Using Sword To Threaten People

CROMWELL — A Cromwell man was arrested for allegedly using a sword to threaten two people.
Demetrius Ryan Contreras, 29, 9795 E. Chickadee Drive, Cromwell, is charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; and battery resulting in bodily injury, a class A misdemeanor.
On Sept. 23, 2024, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a fight at a Cromwell residence. A woman said Contreras was tattooing a person at the home. When the woman woke up, she said Contreras and the person he was tattooing were no longer at the residence.
According to court documents, Contreras and the person were found in a vehicle outside the home. When the woman left the residence, Contreras allegedly yelled at the woman and punched her in the back of the head.
After hitting her, Contreras grabbed a sword and threatened to kill her. He also threatened to kill another person at the residence while he was holding the sword.
Two children at the residence said they saw Contreras punch the woman in the back of the head and threaten to kill her while holding a sword.
The woman’s injuries included a busted lip and two bumps on her head.
Contreras has already been arrested and released on bond.
