Leer Group To Bring Manufacturing To US
News Release
ELKHART — Leer Group, an Elkhart-based truck accessories manufacturer, announced plans to consolidate operations, including moving all Mexico-based window, truck-cap and door production stateside.
The majority of production, coming from Se-Gi Products in Rosarito, Mexico, will go to its Elkhart State Wide Windows facility. Glass and windows for specialty vehicles are produced there.
Leer Group is also planning to move all its Mexicali, Mexico truck-cap manufacturing to locations in Elkhart and Milton, Pa. The transition will come with 40-50 jobs added to the company. After the move is finalized, no Leer Group operations will be left in Mexico.
The announcements come after tariffs taxing 25% of all Mexican imports were announced by President Donald Trump Saturday, Feb. 1. The tariffs have since been postponed.
Leer Group, which opened a $2 million Elkhart plant in 2023, is expected to complete the transition by the end of second quarter, 2025. A 100,000 square-foot distribution and fulfillment center, also in Elkhart, will finish construction at around the same time.
