Man Arrested For Allegedly Battering Person During Road Rage Incident
Staff Report

David William Akridge
OSWEGO — A North Webster man was arrested after allegedly battering a man during a road rage incident.
David William Akridge, 32, 6127 N. 950E, North Webster, is charged with criminal confinement and battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, both level 6 felonies; and battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Feb. 12, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to an incident northeast of Oswego. A man said he was driving on North CR 475E when a driver in a Nissan Murano overtook him in an aggressive manner. Roadways were icy and snowy at the time of the incident.
According to court documents, the man said he flashed his high-beams and honked his horn at the Nissan Murano. The Murano’s driver, later identified as Akridge, applied his brakes and parked perpendicular to the man’s vehicle, blocking the lane of travel.
Akridge then exited his vehicle, approaching the man and demanding he roll his vehicle’s window down. When the man rolled the window down, Akridge allegedly hit the man with a closed fist on the left side of his mouth three times. The deputy noticed the man’s lip was swollen and that he had a laceration on the inside of his mouth.
A North Webster Police officer spoke with Akridge, who admitted to being involved in the incident but said he only talked with the man.
Physical evidence was used to identify Akridge as the Murano’s driver.
Akridge has already been arrested and released on bond. He has an initial hearing at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in Kosciusko Superior Court Three.
