Turkey Creek Dam and Dike Conservancy annual meeting set for Feb. 14
News Release
SYRACUSE — The Turkey Creek Dam and Dike Conservancy District board will hold its annual meeting at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14. The meeting will be held at the conservancy district office at the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation Education Center, 11586 N. SR 13, Syracuse.
The annual meeting date has been modified due to irreconcilable scheduling conflicts preventing the presence of a quorum as originally scheduled by the Kosciusko Circuit Court.
At the annual meeting, the directorship positions serving Directorship Areas 4 and 5 will be up for election. Judy Roberts currently represents area 4 and Carolyn Anderson represents area 5.
Roberts is the only candidate to have filed a valid nominating petition to serve on the governing board representing directorship area 4 and there will be no contested election for that position.
No nominating petitions were received for Directorship Area 5 and a vacancy will occur at the annual meeting.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Indiana Conservancy Statute, vacancies on the board are filled by a majority vote of the remaining members of board of the conservancy district.
Additionally, at the annual meeting, the board will organize for 2025 and in so doing elect from its membership a chairperson and vice chairperson.
An opportunity will also be given to the public to ask questions about the operation and function of the conservancy district.
Immediately upon the adjournment of the annual meeting, the board will convene and conduct a regular board quarterly meeting which is scheduled to convene at 3:30 p.m. and at the same location where the annual meeting will be conducted.
