Warsaw Man Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Items From Dollar General

WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after allegedly stealing items from a Dollar General store.
Edson Benton Zimmerman, 64, 600 N. Colfax St. Apartment 127, Warsaw, is charged with theft, a class A misdemeanor; and theft with a prior conviction, a level 6 felony.
On Jan. 17, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a theft report at a Dollar General store. The suspect was identified as Zimmerman.
According to court documents, the store’s manager said a customer informed them Zimmerman was stealing merchandise. Zimmerman allegedly hid numerous items inside his jacket and left the store without paying for the merchandise.
The officer reviewed the store’s surveillance footage and saw Zimmerman remove numerous items from store shelves and the freezer section. Zimmerman initially denied being at the store but admitted he was there once he was confronted with evidence.
The total cost of the items Zimmerman stole valued $20.50.
Zimmerman was previously convicted of theft in Kosciusko County in June 2024.
Zimmerman has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance.
