On Monday, Feb. 3, at approximately 4:34 p.m., a trooper with the Indiana State Police Bremen Post All Crimes Policing Team stopped a white 2017 Dodge Ram for moving violations as it travelled northbound on SR 15 near CR 1350 North in Kosciusko County. During the course of the traffic stop it was discovered that the driver of the Dodge, Luis Lara-Macias, 35, of Warsaw, was in possession of a large amount of United States Currency. The amount of the currency was later determined to be more than $65,000.
Troopers continued this investigation and ultimately served a search warrant at Lara-Macias’ residence in the 1700 block of East 300 North in Warsaw, just after midnight with the assistance of officers from NET 43. As a result of this search warrant, troopers located a rifle, two handguns, approximately 3 ounces of suspected cocaine, a digital scale, fraudulent identification cards, an additional $3,600 USC, as well as other paraphernalia associated with drug dealing.
Lara-Macias was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail on a preliminary charge of Money Laundering, a Level 4 Felony. At the conclusion of this investigation all reports will be turned over to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
