Kosciusko County

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:

• 5:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, North CR 700E and East CR 500N, Leesburg. Driver: Kyler L. Northrup, 40, North CR 700E, Leesburg. Northrup failed to stop at a stop sign and his vehicle struck a utility pole, leaving the passenger door at the pole and coming to a stop 80 yards away in a field. Northrup was transported to Parkview, who later informed officers he suffered a broken wrist, elbow and two ribs. Damage up to $25,000.

• 12:42 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, East Armstrong Road, west of North CR 300E, Leesburg. Driver: Cecilia E. Hill, 37, East Oldfield Drive, Leesburg. Hit deer. Damage up to $5,000.

• 9:33 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, Fox Farm Road and West Lake Street, Warsaw. Driver: Taylor R. Roberts, 27, Royanna Lane, Syracuse. Roberts’s vehicle tried to slow at an intersection, lost control, and hit a curb. Damage up to $2,500.

• 9:33 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, Fox Farm Road and West Lake Street, Warsaw. Driver: Cameraon P. Sumwalt, 29, South Ferguson Road, Warsaw. Sumwalt’s vehicle tried to slow at an intersection, lost control, and hit a curb. Damage up to $10,000.

• 10:31 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, South Packerton Road and East CR 375S, Warsaw. Driver: Kyle Myers, 46, East CR 800S, Columbia City. Myers swerved and overcorrected her vehicle to avoid a deer, striking a ditch which ripped off a wheel. No injuries. Damage up to $5,000.

• 2 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, South SR 25, south of West CR 250S, Warsaw. Driver: Delmar F. Johnson, 64, West Hummingbird Drive, Mentone. Hit deer. Damage up to $2,500.

• 10:19 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, North SR 15 and West CR 1300N, Milford. Drivers: Karissa Boesenberg, 18, Polywood Way, Syracuse; and Drew Beer, 29, North CR 425W, Milford. Boesenberg was turning right on 1300N, but due to icy conditions, his vehicle slid into Beer’s vehicle, which was stopped at the stop sign on 1300N. No injuries. Damage up to $5,000.

• 5:14 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, East CR 900S and South CR 600E, Claypool. Driver: Douglas Nicodemus, 25, East Center Street, Sidney. Hit deer. Damage up to $5,000.

• 7:44 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 5837 E. Old Road 30, Pierceton. Drivers: unknown driver; and David Engelberth, 65, East Old Road 30, Pierceton. Damage up to $5,000. Engelberth was pulling into his driveway when a vehicle sideswiped him. The unknown vehicle went into a ditch and then left the scene. No injuries. Damage up to $5,000.

• 7:28 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, West CR 400S, east of South Kinsey Road, Warsaw. Driver: Lidia N. Perez, 54, Tuscany Crossing, Winona Lake. Hit deer. Damage up to $10,000.

• 2:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, West Old Road 30, east of North CR 520W, Warsaw. Driver: Manuel C. Jara, 62, South CR 325, Pierceton. Hit deer. Damage up to $10,000.

• 12:50 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, West CR 200N and Wray Street, Atwood. Driver: Cary D. Walls, 51, Sandcastle Drive, Warsaw. Walls’ vehicle was going around a curve, slid on the ice, went off the roadway and struck a building. Damage up to $10,000.
