Marcos Antonio Wheeler
SYRACUSE — An Elkhart man was recently arrested for allegedly stealing a vehicle from a Syracuse man.
Marcos Antonio Wheeler, 38, 27580 Woodview Drive Apartment P., Elkhart, is charged with auto theft, a level 6 felony.
On May 5, 2023, a Syracuse Police officer responded to a report of a vehicle theft. The vehicle’s owner said he allowed Wheeler to stay at his residence the previous night.
According to court documents, when the owner woke up, his 1998 Lincoln Towncar and Wheeler were gone. The owner told police he did not give anyone permission to take his vehicle. He texted Wheeler and asked him to bring the vehicle back.
Wheeler responded multiple times and said he was coming back to the house with the vehicle. However, Wheeler never returned with the vehicle.
Prior to entering the Towncar as a stolen vehicle, the Syracuse officer received information from an Elkhart Police officer that the vehicle had been located.
At that time, Wheeler was placed under arrest for an active warrant out of Elkhart County.
Wheeler was previously convicted of theft in Lake County in February 2022.
Wheeler was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail for this case on Jan. 21, 2025.
