Stephanie L. Newswanger — UPDATED
Stephanie Lynn Newswanger, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at the age of 62.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1962, in Frankfort, to Barbara Jean (Craft) Fish and Garland Victor Fish. She married Lynn Richard Newswanger, who preceded her in death on July 27, 2018.
Stephanie graduated from Millard South High School in Omaha, Neb., in 1981. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Grace College, graduating in 2005. She went on to earn her master’s in social work from Capella University in Minneapolis, graduating in 2008. She had a heart for helping others and over the years met with many families and children as a mental health therapist in Phoenix and later in Kokomo. For the past five years, Stephanie enjoyed crafts as well as painting. She loved to read and often could be found in the kitchen cooking up something delicious. Stephanie dearly loved her children and loved being a grandmother. She will forever be loved as a wonderful mother, sister and friend to many.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Rebekah Newswanger, South Whitley, and Katie Newswanger, Kokomo; six grandchildren, Elaina, Gavin, Weston, Gabriel, Rhilyn and Brynnlie; and her brother, Brian Fish, Phoenix. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Benjamin; and her daughter, Amanda.
Stephanie will be laid to rest at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
