Warsaw Claims Boys Invite Title
Warsaw’s boys weren’t messing around to begin its season Tuesday evening. Taking eight of the top 14 spots, the Tigers easily cruised to a championship at its Warsaw Cross Country Invite.
Jacob Kissling (16:54), Tanner Stiver (16:59) and Harrison Phipps (16:59) went one-two-three in the race to lead the Warsaw storm. The Tigers scored a scant 19 points to easily distance itself from runner-up Columbia City (53) and Mishawaka (103).
NorthWood was fourth, led by Eric Hochstetler (18:25, 16th), Owen Miller (18:52) and Cole Davies (19:03) as its top three.
Tippecanoe Valley was seventh, paced by Matthew Howes (18:24, 15th), Chase Miller (19:29) and Brady Rodgers (21:38).
The girls race saw Penn take the title in impressive fashion, scoring 31 points behind champion Mary Eubank at 20:15 and landing all five of its scorers in the top 10. Leo was second at 69 and Warsaw third at 82.
For the Tigers, Wini Barnett led the team with a 20:38, good for seventh overall. Ava Knight (21:00, 13th) and Regan Brouwer (21:16, 18th) comprised the top three.
NorthWood was sixth, with a solid showing by Kaitlin Burden, who was a stop off runner-up with her 20:27. Emilie Allen (22:50) and Reese Barhydt (23:57) were next on the list for the Panthers.
Tippecanoe Valley were 10th, with Chesnee Miller taking 19th at 21:19. Next for the Vikes were Ella Myers (26:26) and Maria Henderson (26:37).
