Valley opened Three Rivers Conference play with a home win over the Wildcats.
In the 25-15, 25-13, 25-17 sweep, Bree Sheetz posted nine digs and seven kills, Mallory Durkes had eight kills and a block, and Macy Kirchenstien sent up 18 assists and three aces among the team standouts.
Valley’s JV claimed a 25-3, 25-10 roll of the Wildcats. Avery Wagoner had four kills, four aces and a block among Valley’s victory.
Wawasee 3, Bethany Christian 0
The Warriors held off a feisty Bruin squad in Syracuse to remain unbeaten at 5-0.
A 25-15, 25-21, 26-24 work had Wawasee’s Dylan Konieczny pound 17 kills and nine digs, Leslie Vazquez put up nine kills and seven digs, Elizabeth Miller had seven digs and three aces, and Amanda Allen assist on 27 winners.
“This was a good match against a quality opponent,” said Wawasee head coach Jeff Phillips. “Bethany always brings excellent defense and discipline. We were able to overcome some runs and get the win.”
Emma Young had eight aces and eight assists to lead Wawasee to a 25-16, 25-8 JV win over the Bruins. Abbi Burelison had eight kills and a block and Kenzie Hackleman added eight digs and three aces.
Penn 3, Warsaw 1
In a showdown of sectional contenders, Penn got the upper hand with a win at The Palace.
The Kingsmen fended off the Tigers 25-12, 20-25, 25-17, 25-9.
For the Tigers, Alli Heinrich led the team with 10 kills and Kaylee Weeks and Melaina Hawblitzel combined for 13 kills. Avery Hales had 26 assists and 12 digs and Kylie Smith added 12 digs.
Warsaw’s JV beat Penn 25-22, 25-19, led by Jael Namfukwe’s nine kills, nine digs and six aces. Kenzie Chivington had nine digs and eight kills, Emma Cooper added four digs and Daiyah Chupp claimed 17 assists.
The Warsaw freshman team eeked out a 25-24, 25-24 win over Penn. Allyson Anderson had nine kills and six digs, and Elena Chandler had five kills. Eva Everest assisted on 21 points.
