WARSAW — Mr. Grinch, mini Grinch and Santa will be at Walmart to give away four bicycles on Saturday, Dec. 21.
The Grinch and his son, mini Grinch, are getting into the Christmas spirit and giving back to the community. Mr. Grinch realized that kids and grown-ups alike love seeing the Grinch and taking photos. He started getting involved with Salvation Army and the Oldies bus three years ago.
“People were donating to the bucket out there. Seeing the smiles on people’s faces was awesome,” he said.
Last Saturday, he stood with the Warsaw Rotary Club as members collected donations.
This year, the Grinch and Santa wanted to make the event even bigger, so they’ve purchased bikes to give away in a free raffle. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the Oldies bus is at Walmart and the Salvation Army bell ringers are collecting donations, the Grinch and Santa will be meeting kids and collecting names for the raffle.
For those who can’t visit the Grinch at Walmart during the event to enter the raffle, the Grinch made a Facbook page, Grinch of Warsaw. Enter the raffle by following the page, liking the post about the raffle and commenting the name of the person to enter.
At 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, Santa and the Grinch will pull four names — two boys and two girls — to win the bicycles. If the winners are not present, the Grinch will contact them and the bikes will be delivered.
“We want to give back to the community,” said the Grinch. “This time of year is stressful enough, so to give back, doing our part helping people out, hopefully (the bikes) get to the right kids and right parent that really need it this time of year.”
He added, “We just want to spread the Christmas spirit and bring smiles to people’s faces.”
