Wabash Run the River Race Announced For June 7
News Release
WABASH — Visit Wabash County announces the return of the Wabash Run the River race in downtown Wabash on the morning of Saturday, June 7.
Registration is open now for the half marathon, 10K and 5K. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers of each race thanks to this year’s title sponsor, Chittick Insurance.
Located at 563 Cass St., Wabash, Chittick Insurance’s President Matthew Chittick reflected, “Having participated in the race every year, I can personally attest to the exceptional quality and meticulous attention to detail that Visit Wabash County puts into organizing this event. Supporting their efforts is a natural choice. At Chittick Insurance, we believe in the importance of community involvement, and sponsoring events like this is an integral part of our work culture.”
Wabash Run the River offers three distance options that lead runners to the Wabash River Trail and back, with the start/finish line being on Carroll Street, in front of Friendship Hill Inclusive Park. The 2025 race will have a morning start time with the half marathon starting at 8:30 a.m. and the 10K and 5K run starting at 9:00 AM. New this year is youth pricing at $25. This year, we’re excited to introduce a youth ticket for individuals 17 and under and children in strollers continue to enjoy free admission.
“Give the runner in your life the ultimate gift — an unforgettable experience at Wabash Run The River, said Stephanie Rogers, race director and experiences manager for Visit Wabash County. “It’s more than a race; it’s a celebration of passion, community and the joy of the outdoors.”
To help local runners train for the event, Visit Wabash County in partnership with Alley Cat Outfitters will once again organize weekly free runs as part of Miles and Smiles, formerly Wabash River Run Club. The group will begin meeting on Saturdays in March at 8 a.m. at the new Alley Cat Outfitters located at 100 Berry St. Miles and Smiles aims to inspire walkers and runners to spend 60 minutes together enjoying the outdoors, building a sense of community and supporting one another.
