WARSAW — Local bail bondsman Curtis Stavedahl has wanted to run a tactical gear store in Warsaw for quite some time, but the timing was never right.
With changes in his professional and personal life more recently, he was finally able to open Westside Tactical at 1621 W. Lake St., Warsaw, on Oct. 12.
The Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce welcomed the business to the city with a ribbon-cutting on Thursday, Nov. 21.
Stavedahl said he hopes to provide “a good selection” of items for customers.
The business stocks tactical, hunting and first responder attire as well as ammunition, knives and flashlights. Stavedahl plans to sell body armor soon.
He also sells some parts for guns and possibly may seek his federal firearms license in the future to deal all gun parts.
Stavedahl noted he hopes to eventually build relationships with area police departments and other first responders to supply them with uniforms.
He currently offers a 12% discount to current and former military members and first responders.
Store hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Stavedahl said he will offer extended hours for Christmas soon.
The business previously housed Stavedahl’s wife Andrea Stavedahl’s business, Bent Leg Antique Marketplace, which carried antiques and more. A small section of the store still houses some of her items for sale.
