MILFORD — “This has been a long time coming,” Phil Gingerich, chairman of the project committee, said. “We are so excited to open the doors to our community.”
Milford Chapel recently completed a series of renovation, which began in September 2023. Among the renovations were improving the auditorium, expanding the fellowship hall and converting the old sanctuary into classrooms. The improvements and expansions of the auditorium allows for 250 seats, which is nearly double what it originally was able to hold. The renovations happened in phases so church services were able to be held in the chapel throughout the duration of the project.
“We hope the chapel becomes an asset to our community and town,” Gingerich hoped. “The community support we received was incredible.”
Goshen-based DJ Construction was the contractor on the project. The project committee created multiple smaller project committees comprised of community and congregation volunteers. These smaller-project committees were responsible for the interior design, the nursery, the library, landscaping, sound and video and various design choices, such as carpeting and paint color.
“This project and transition would not have been as smooth without the support of the community,” Gingerich admitted.
To celebrate the completion of the renovations, Milford Chapel will be hosting an open house from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. A dedication service will begin at 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served during the open house. The Milford community is invited and welcome to attend to walk through the new chapel.
