WARSAW — Turnout for the 2024 general election at vote centers in Warsaw and Claypool has been described as “remarkable” and “high” by election workers.
At the Claypool Lions Club building, Precinct Commiteewoman Helen Brown said the center had 430 voters as of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. She said Claypool typically sees around 300 voters for general elections. Brown also noted the center had a continuous line throughout the day.
Democrat Judge Dave Morgan described the turnout as remarkable, saying Claypool saw 200 voters by 9 a.m. Morgan said he believes the establishment of vote centers has resulted in an increase in voter turnout.
“If these trends continue the rest of the day, I fully expect to see 600 plus voters at this site,” said Morgan. “It’s so good to see everyone turning out.”
At the First Christian Church voting center in Warsaw, Election Inspector Lynn Howie said voting traffic has been “nonstop busy.” As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, 642 people had voted at the church.
Howie also noted the center hadn’t seen a break in voting traffic until 12:30 p.m.
“At 1:15 (p.m.), we started with a few people and now, we’re getting a steady stream again,” said Howie. “All the machines are full. We’ve already had six provisional ballots, and that was all before noon.”
Voting centers will remain open until 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5. A list of the sites in Kosciusko County can be viewed here.
