Linda J. Flenar
Linda J. Flenar, 81, Etna Green, passed at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw.
Linda was born on Oct. 9, 1943, in Warsaw, to the late Ralph J. and Aleta (Hight) Long. She graduated from Mentone High School in 1961, and later from Indiana University in 1974, eventually earning her master’s degree. On July 21, 1963, she married Max L. Flenar at the Etna Green Church of Christ. Max preceded her in death on June 24, 2018.
Linda dedicated 37 years to teaching at Jefferson Elementary within Warsaw Community Schools, beginning with special education and lastly in fourth grade. She was a longtime member of the Etna Green Church of Christ, participating actively in the Dorcas Ministry and Kids Hope at Triton Schools. She loved gardening, sewing, quilting, and traveling to watch her grandchildren play sports.
She is survived by her children Angie and husband Craig Szymanski of West Lafayette and Don Flenar and wife Vicki of Peachtree City, Ga.; grandchildren Cade, Reid, Trey, Aleah, and Ashley and husband Ryan; brothers Larry and wife Mary Ellen Long of Warsaw and Robert and wife Judy Long of Milford.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Max, and sisters Barbara McQuinn and LuAnn Wiseman.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at King Memorial Home 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Jordan Ickes officiating.
The interment will take place in the Etna Green Cemetery, Etna Green.
Visitation hours will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
