South Whitley Woman Arrested For Allegedly Allowing Child To Smoke Marijuana
Staff Report
SOUTH WHITLEY — A South Whitley woman was arrested for allegedly allowing a child to smoke marijuana.
Kalynn C. Eloph, 34, 8009 W. 300S, South Whitley, is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class A misdemeanor.
On Sept. 18, a school resource officer at Whitko High School was approached by a person regarding an encounter they had with Eloph. On Sept. 17, the person said Eloph mentioned something about the school drug testing students.
According to court documents, Eloph said she didn’t agree with drug testing since she allowed a child in her care to smoke marijuana. The child was drug screened on Sept. 19, with the test coming back positive for THC and nicotine.
When Eloph was told about the positive drug test and that the child would be suspended from school for 10 days, Eloph was allegedly irate. She said the child’s doctor and counselor both said the child smoking marijuana was a good thing. Eloph said the child only used marijuana once a month and would be withdrawing the child from school.
Eloph has already been arrested and released on bond.
