WARSAW — Two local unions hosted a pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 19, for the benefit of Warsaw Community Schools’ students.
Warsaw Professional Firefighters Local 5461 and United Steelworkers Local 809 partnered together to host the breakfast at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds. All the proceeds from the breakfast will go toward school lunches for WCS students in need.
Kristy Hooker, United Steelworkers Local 809’s financial secretary, said traffic for the event was steady.
“This was our trial run and we threw it together pretty fast since we found out the school needed some help,” said Jeff Hooker, United Steelworkers Local 809’s president.
Representatives from both unions said they plan to host the breakfast again in the future.
“We’re just trying to get out there and help the community in any way we can,” said Jeff.
