NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING UPON ORDINANCE AMENDING RATES AND CHARGES FOR GARBAGE AND REFUSE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Mentone Town Council shall consider an Ordinance amending and increasing rates and charges for garbage and refuse at a public hearing before the Mentone Town Council on the 6th of November, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. The hearing will be held at the Town of Mentone Office, Meeting Room, located at 201 West Main Street, Mentone, Indiana 46539. The language of the Ordinance, in pertinent parts, to be considered is as follows:

“An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 21-461 Amending and Restating Establishment of Rates and Charges for Garbage and Refuse.”

Section 5. FEE FOR SERVICES.

(A) The owners of every residential single-family home shall be assessed a fee of:

-In 2025 and 2026, $15.00 per month for the removal of garbage and trash.

-In 2027, $16.00 per month for the removal of garbage and trash.

The owners of multi-family dwellings or apartment houses shall be assessed a fee of: -In 2025 and 2026, $15.00 per month per family residing in said premises for the removal of garbage and trash

-In 2027, $16.00 per month per family residing in said premises for the removal of garbage and trash.

(B) The said payments shall be made on a monthly basis concurrently with the payment of the water bill.

(C) The fee for the removal of garbage and trash may vary from year to year, depending on the bid the town is able to secure for such services.

Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and the new rates and charges shall be effective beginning January 1, 2025.

A copy of the proposed Ordinance is on file for inspection at the Town of Mentone Office located at 201 West Main Street, Mentone, Indiana 46539.
