Caucus Set To Fill Winona Lake Council Position

WINONA LAKE — Rick Swaim has submitted his letter of resignation, effectively immediately, as a member of the Winona Lake Town Council. His resignation was received Tuesday, Oct. 1, by Kosciusko Republican Chairman Mike Ragan.
Ragan has announced that a caucus will convene at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, to fill that vacancy. The caucus will be held in the Winona Lake Town Hall Chambers, 1310 Park Ave., Winona Lake.
The Winona Lake Town Board Member shall be elected by secret ballot of the majority of the voting caucus members to fill the office vacancy.
Declarations of Candidacy are available at the office of Kosciusko County Clerk of the Circuit Court, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw, and must be filed with the chairman no later than 72 hours before the commencement of the caucus. Eligible candidates will be allowed a maximum of three minutes to address the voting caucus.
Republican Precinct Committee members of Wayne 1, 2, 3, 4 and 10 are eligible members of the caucus. Precinct committee members may designate a vice precinct committee member to vote as the precinct committee member’s proxy, if filed with the chairman at least 72 hours before the caucus.
