Castillo Arrested For Allegedly Battering Several People
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested for allegedly battering a child, woman, and police officer.
Manuel H. Castillo, 43, 2441 S. 250S Lot 101, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery resulting in bodily injury to a person under the age of 14, a level 5 felony; resisting law enforcement resulting in bodily injury and domestic battery committed in the presence of a child, both level 6 felonies; and resisting law enforcement and two counts of domestic battery, all class A misdemeanors.
On Aug. 31, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a domestic complaint in Warsaw. A child reported Castillo strangled a woman.
Upon arrival at the scene, the deputy saw Castillo sprawled out in the grass next to a vehicle. According to court documents, when the deputy told Castillo to put his hands behind his back, Castillo allegedly ripped his arm away from the deputy and flipped onto his back.
Castillo then shoved the deputy, hitting the deputy’s face and jaw with his palm. Additional KCSO deputies then assisted at the scene.
The child who reported the incident said Castillo was intoxicated, which led them to contact the woman. They asked for themselves and a second child at the scene to be picked up.
During this incident, Castillo grabbed one of the children by their right wrist, causing pain. When the woman came to the scene to pick the children up, Castillo pushed and grabbed the woman by her neck. One of the children then hit Castillo with a lamp to get him off the woman.
Castillo said he did not harm the woman or child, and alleged that the woman attacked him.
Castillo has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance. He has an initial hearing at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Kosciusko Superior Court Two.
