Wawasee High School Senior earns National Merit commendation

WAWASEE — Wawasee High School has announced senior Michael Wood has been named a “Commended Student” in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. This recognition places Wood among the top 50,000 students in the country who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Principal Geoff Walmer personally presented Wood with a letter of commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Walmer shared his excitement for Wood’s achievement. “We are incredibly proud of Michael for this remarkable accomplishment. His dedication to his studies and academic excellence is a true reflection of the Warrior spirit. This recognition is just one step in what we know will be a bright and successful future for him,” Walmer said.
Each year, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation recognizes approximately 34,000 high school students as “Commended Students” nationwide.
