Plymouth School Board President Named 2024 School Board Member Of The Year
Press Release
PLYMOUTH — Allison Shook, president of the school board for the Plymouth Community School Corporation, has been named school board member of the year for 2024 by the Indiana School Boards Association.
The ISBA presented Shook with the Outstanding Board Service Award during its annual fall conference at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. This prestigious award is conferred annually by the ISBA to one school board member out of the nearly 1,700 school board members statewide who exemplifies the best attributes of effective board governance.
Shook’s leadership on the Plymouth School Board has been pivotal in promoting positive change, from championing solar projects that save on energy costs to guiding redistricting efforts that ensure every student in a K-4 building receives an equitable education. She has also been a powerful advocate for establishing pre-K and childcare programs.
As director of the Marshall County Lifelong Learning Network, Shook has been the driving force behind the Marshall County Career Innovation Center, a multimillion-dollar project transforming career education opportunities for students across the region, as well as adults seeking additional workforce skills.
“As a school board member, I have worked to be a servant for our youth and an advocate for better opportunities for our students, staff, and community,” said Shook. “I truly am grateful and honored to be receiving this award.”
