Milford Man Arrested On Several Battery Charges
Staff Report
MILFORD — A Milford man was recently arrested for allegedly battering a person.
Travis Alan Coday, 35, 207 N. East St., Milford, is charged with domestic battery committed in the presence of a child and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Sept. 19, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a battery report at a Milford residence. A woman reported Coday was intoxicated and beating a child.
Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with the woman, who said Coday was inside a home with four children. The woman said Coday began acting aggressive earlier in the day during one of the children’s soccer games.
According to court documents, the argument continued at a residence. The woman witnessed Coday pull one of the children’s hair, throw them to the ground, and kick them. Cody also allegedly smashed the child’s Xbox gaming system.
When the deputy attempted to speak with him, Coday slammed the residence’s door in the deputy’s face and told her to get a warrant. When the deputy asked Coday about the children’s welfare, all four children left the residence.
When a second KCSO deputy attempted to speak with him, Coday made a derogatory gesture and locked the residence.
The child who was battered spoke with the deputies. They said Coday argued at their soccer game because they shook hands with someone. The argument continued at home, and the child said Coday pulled their hair, threw them to the ground, and kicked them three times. Deputies noticed a red mark on the child’s thigh and three scratches on their lower left leg.
Coday eventually left the residence and was taken into custody.
Coday was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 19. He has an initial hearing at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in Kosciusko Superior Court Two.
