Joseph D. Maitland — UPDATED
Joseph David Maitland, 53, of Rochester, passed away at 3:39 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, at Woodlawn Hospital. His loving wife of 33 years was beside him.
On July 4, 1971, Joseph David was born in LaPorte to Walter James and Sheila M Christian Maitland. Growing up, he shared his childhood with a big brother, Tony. Joseph was a member of the Winamac High School Class of 1989.
In Rochester on May 21, 1993, Joseph David married the love of his life, Wenonah Christine Van Lue. Together, they shared 33 years of life’s adventures. From their union came three wonderful children, Nathan, Tyler and Abbey. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of three grandchildren.
Joseph dedicated 17 years of his career to Zimmer-Biomet as a CNC machinist, where his focus on precision outcomes and craftsmanship for orthopedic patients were deeply valued. Beyond his professional contributions, he was an active member of a Zimmer-Biomet prayer group, where he found solace and community. Joseph took great pride in sharing daily Scriptures, providing spiritual support and encouragement to his colleagues. His faith and kindness resonated with those around him, making a lasting impact both in and out of the workplace.
To relax, Joseph embraced the challenges of gaming, usually on the computer, but he loved using his PS5. With a great appreciation of music, he listened to a variety of genres, from heavy metal to classic rock.
As the patriarch of the Maitland family, Joseph was a caring man who adored his wife, Wenonah, and his three children. He was always there for them. As a grandpa, he spoiled his three grandchildren, making memories that lasted a lifetime.
