Timothy R. Mikel
Timothy R.Mikel, 72, of rural Mentone, passed unexpectedly at 8:24 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
Tim was born on Nov. 29, 1951, in Warsaw, to the late Everett and Arissa May (Hodges) Mikel. He attended Mentone Schools and was in the class of 1970. Tim first married Noma Ruth Bays; she preceded him on July 13, 2007. On May 31, 2008, in Atwood, he married Vicki Horn Romine, who survives.
He worked for R.R. Donnelley & Sons for more than 40 years, retiring as a press operator. He was a member of Safe Harbor Church of Rochester, where he was very active. Tim loved golfing, traveling and restoring and building many things. In years past, he also taught Sunday school. Anything that would arise, he was always very charitable.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Mikel, of Mentone; children, Melissa Mikel, of Fort Wayne, Jerry and wife Tabitha Mikel, of Akron, Sarah and husband Jason Christena, of Fishers, and Emily and husband Brian White, of Fishers; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Steve and wife Nancy Mikel, of Michigan, Dave and wife Lois Mikel, of Etna Green, Tom and wife Deb Mikel, of Bourbon, Joe and wife Marsha Mikel, of Etna Green, and Seth and wife Julie Mikel, of Etna Green.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Noma; and brother, Jim and wife Pat Mikel.
The funeral service will take place at noon, Thursday, Sept. 26, at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Pastor Mark MacKillop officiating.
Visitation hours will be held at 10 a.m. until noon, Thursday, Sept. 26, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone.
Private family interment will take place in the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
