Staff Report
SYRACUSE — A Warsaw woman was recently arrested for allegedly kicking a police officer.
Kathleen Grace Rollins, 36, 4130 S. 400E, Warsaw, is charged with battery resulting in bodily injury to a public safety officer, a level 5 felony; resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor; and public intoxication, a class B misdemeanor.
On Sept. 14, a Syracuse Police officer responded to a report of a woman sitting in the middle of an intersection. The woman was identified as Rollins.
According to court documents, Rollins had a bag with multiple bottles of alcohol on her person. The officer also noticed Rollins smelled like alcohol. Rollins said she drank “too many” and was unable to get a ride somewhere safe. A second Syracuse Police officer and a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived to assist at the scene.
While being taken into custody, Rollins allegedly pulled her arms away, kicked at the officers, and dropped her body weight down. During the incident, Rollins kicked the KCSO deputy’s right shin and left thigh.
While being taken to the Kosciusko County Jail, Rollins slipped one hand out of her handcuffs. The arresting officer had to stop and secure Rollins into the handcuffs.
Rollins was booked in KCJ on Sept. 14.
