Tiburcia Cabrera — UPDATED
Tiburcia Cabrera passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, surrounded with love by her daughter and grandson. She was born on Aug. 11, 1927, in Goliad, Texas; her parents were Facunda Solis and Julio Marin.
Tiburcia lived a life defined by hard work, faith and a deep commitment to her loved ones. Her professional journey spanned over 25 years at Kralis Brothers, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic in the evisceration department, often credited to the guidance and backing of Jerry Kralis. She remembered him as a kind-spirited man. Even in retirement, she worked part time for Bertsch vending and Cardinal Services.
A woman of profound Christian faith, Tiburcia was the wife of a pastor and actively engaged in her church community. Together they served the church in Aurora, Ill., making the trip several times weekly from their home in Chicago Heights. She found joy in sewing, creating clothes for her family and crafting Christmas costumes for the church pageant. Her green thumb allowed her to cultivate beautiful gardens, nurturing life in every blossom. Tiburcia was also cherished for her quick wit and great sense of humor, which brought joy and laughter to those around her.
Tiburcia leaves behind a loving family, including her three children: Rebeca Spears, Samuel Cabrera (wife Angie) and Peter Cabrera (wife Melinda). She also leaves eight grandsons; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Facunda Solis and Julio Marin; five siblings, Gregoria Marin, Trine Aguirre, Serapio Marin, Enrique Marin and Augustina Marin; and her late husband, Margil Cabrera.
Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw, is entrusted with the care of the Cabrera family. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19. Her life will be celebrated beginning at 7 p.m. Burial will take place the following day at 11 a.m. in Tippecanoe Cemetery, 17698 SR 331, Tippecanoe. In lieu of flowers, gifts should be directed K-21 Health Foundation, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
