WARSAW — A Warsaw man will serve a six-year sentence locally after officers served a warrant and found drugs.
Cory Eugene Iden, 41, Warsaw, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 felony. Two additional criminal charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Iden was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court on Monday, Sept. 16.
For meth possession, Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed sentenced Iden to six years in the Indiana Department of Correction. The first four years of Iden’s DOC commitment was suspended for placement in the Kosciusko County Work Release Program. The last two years of Iden’s sentence was suspended on formal probation.
Iden’s sentence will be served back-to-back to two additional criminal cases.
At sentencing, Defense Attorney Scott Reust said Iden was a trustee at the Kosciusko County Jail and had been accepted to work release.
On May 23, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy assisted with serving a warrant on Iden. Upon taking him into custody, officers searched a backpack Iden was in possession of.
According to court documents, officers found 9.3 grams of meth in the backpack.
