Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 6:38 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, McKenna Road, west of EMS B28 Lane, Warsaw. Driver: Herschel F. Rainwater, 83, North CR 375E, Warsaw. Rainwater’s vehicle left the roadway, hitting a pontoon boat that was placed on cinder blocks for winter storage. The collision moved the boat about 180 degrees, causing damage to the front of the boat and the yard where the boat was. Damage up to $25,000.
- 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, North CR 875W, south of West Old Road 30, Etna Green. Driver: Sarahi Ugarte, 19, Tulip Boulevard, Goshen. Ugarte’s vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $10,000.
- 6:08 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, North CR 150E, at the intersection of East CR 300N, Warsaw. Driver: Miranda M. Ross, 24, EMS B40C Lane, Leesburg. Ross was traveling east on East CR 300N when she disregarded a stop sign, hitting guide wires. This caused Ross’ vehicle to overturn onto its roof. Damage up to $25,000.
- 1:12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 108 W. State St., Etna Green. Drivers: Derek W. Ciij, 21, East High Street, Etna Green; and Ivory W. Snipes, 71, Nancy Street, Warsaw. Ciij was backing his vehicle when he hit Snipes’ vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 7:11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, South CR 600W, near West CR 1200S, Silver Lake. Driver: Morgan E. Smith, 20, East SR 114, Akron. Smith’s vehicle hit a deer. Damage up to $2,500.
- 5:14 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 5328 W. 900N, at the intersection of North CR 625W, Milford. Driver: Jeffery J. Richmond, 36, Hillsdale Road, South Bend. Richmond was attempting to pass a horse and buggy when he clipped the buggy’s rear end. Richmond’s vehicle then left the roadway, hitting a utility pole. The buggy was being driven by Stephan L. Miller, 40, Etna Green. None of the buggy’s occupants were injured. Damage up to $25,000.
- 2:47 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, East Old Road 30, west of North SR 13, Pierceton. Drivers: Philip R. Novak, 68, Chippewa Drive, Warren; and Stanley Carter, 57, West 11th Avenue Apartment 1, Gary. Novak was traveling west on East Old Road 30 via motorcycle and said he had a green light when Carter’s vehicle pulled out in front of him. Carter said he turned right at the red light but did not see Novak’s motorcycle. He turned right then attempted to make a left turn into a gas station parking lot when the collision occurred. Novak was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for chest and leg pain. Damage up to $25,000.
- 10:27 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, Rainbow Drive, at the intersection of Bell Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Michael A. Wahlig, 50, North CR 700W, Warsaw; and Lorna L. Clark, 55, East Forest Circle, Warsaw. Wahlig was traveling west on Bell Drive, approaching a curve, when he hit Clark’s vehicle, which was traveling in the opposite direction. Wahlig complained of neck pain and Clark complained of chest pain. A passenger in Wahlig’s vehicle, Michelle L. Schambers, 51, Warsaw, complained of neck pain. Damage up to $10,000.
- 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, North Fox Farm Road, south of South Side Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Pamela G. Alderfer-Estep, 64, Southside Drive, Warsaw; and Aleasha M. Moriarty, 37, West Broadway Street, Etna Green. Alderfer-Estep was backing her vehicle from a driveway when she hit Moriarty’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
