Man Arrested For Allegedly Breaking Person’s Arm During Fight
Staff Report
NORTH WEBSTER — An Indianapolis man was arrested in Kosciusko County for allegedly breaking a man’s arm during a fight.
James Adam Cich, 38, Indianapolis, is charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony; and battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony.
On June 29, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report of two people being battered in the area of Big Barbee Lake. Upon arrival, the deputy saw a man with several injuries, including a bruised eyelid, laceration to his upper nose, and several red marks on the left side of his forehead.
According to court documents, a witness said a group of individuals, including Cich, were celebrating a birthday at a residence. The witness said everyone was getting along until a person made a negative comment about one of Cich’s relatives. A physical altercation then ensued between Cich and the person who made the comment.
When Cich first confronted the person, a man attempted to separate them. However, Cich allegedly hit the man in the face and pushed him through a screen window, causing the man to fall on the ground and hit his head.
Cich then hit the person who made the comment several times in the face and upper torso. When the man attempted to separate the two again, Cich again pushed the man through another screen window.
The deputy then spoke with the man who made the comment. The man corroborated everything the witness said and believed his collarbone was broken since he couldn’t move his right arm.
The man went to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which included a broken humerus, a dislocated shoulder, and a chipped tooth.
Cich has already been arrested and released on bond. He has a pretrial conference at 1 p.m. Sept. 11, in Kosciusko Superior Court Two.
