WARSAW — A Silver Lake man with a prior felony conviction was arrested for allegedly possessing a firearm.

Bryan Lee Brown, 56, 201 E. Main St., Silver Lake, is charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun with a prior felony conviction, a level 5 felony.

On Aug. 8, Kosciusko 911 dispatch advised county community corrections staff was with Brown, who was in possession of a firearm.

According to court documents, corrections officers said Brown was at Kosciusko County Community Corrections to provide a urine sample for a drug screen when officers noticed an empty handgun holster on his person.

Brown admitted to driving to the KCCC office and was unsure if there was a handgun in his vehicle. Upon searching his vehicle, officers found a handgun.

Brown was previously convicted of forgery in Tippecanoe County in July.

Brown has already been arrested and released on his own recognizance.
