Carolyn Fivecoate

Carolyn Lucille Fivecoate, age 99, Mentone, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. She was a loving mother, a devoted grandmother and a faithful follower of her Savior.

Born on April 28, 1925, in Peru, to Lloyd and Myrtle Boyer Hunter, she grew up one of eight siblings in their family farmhouse. She married Harold Paul “Bud” Fivecoate on Jan. 4, 1949. Together, they welcomed two children, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Carolyn was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Mentone and along with her husband helped maintain the church grounds for many years. She enjoyed working with her hands and helping alongside her husband in his endeavors. She enjoyed reading, crafting and playing games with family and friends.

Carolyn was a hard worker, a dedicated wife, and she loved her family through her actions. She was humble and steadfast in her faith while having a generous and kind personality. Her accomplishments were her family and the legacy she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Fivecoate, on March 31, 2012; and by her daughter, Susan K. Fivecoate, on Oct. 26, 1966. She leaves behind her son, James “Jim” Fivecoate (Deb); grandchildren, Jamie (Devon), Travis (Maryle) and Joel; and her great-grandchildren, Liam, Rory and Fern.

A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, in the First Baptist Church, 206 S. Oak St., Mentone.

A private graveside service is being planned in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, Ind.

The arrangements have been entrusted to King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker, Mentone.
