UPDATE: Two People Seriously Injured After Six-Vehicle Accident South Of Warsaw

WARSAW — Two people were seriously injured after a six-vehicle accident south of Warsaw.
The accident occurred at 1:58 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, on SR 15, south of Southwood Drive.
Preliminary investigation determined a 2012 Lincoln MKZ, driven by Larry L. Scripter, 28, Warsaw, was traveling south on SR 15 when he crossed the center line of the roadway. Scripter’s vehicle hit a 2002 Nissan Frontier driven by Lilia Martinez, 44, Claypool; and a 2008 Ford F150 driven by Adrian L. Bueno Caeballos, 46, Silver Lake.
A 2003 Peterbilt semi driven by Tyce L. Rooney, 23, Columbia City, attempted to avoid the collision, but hit Bueno Caeballos’ vehicle. Rooney’s semi then overturned and hit a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Austin A. Bryant, 29, Silver Lake.
Carol S. Burnsworth, 60, Silver Lake, was driving a 2017 Ford Escape and saw the collision. She began to brake to avoid hitting Bueno Caeballos’ vehicle, but was hit by Bryant’s vehicle after Bryant’s vehicle was hit by Rooney’s.
Scripter sustained internal injuries and was flown to Fort Wayne by Lutheran Air. Martinez sustained internal injuries and was taken to Lutheran Fort Wayne by ground ambulance. Rooney complained of head pain and Bueno Caeballos complained of chest pain. Burnsworth and Bryant were uninjured.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Warsaw Police Department, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Lutheran EMS, Lutheran Air, Kosciusko County Emergency Management, Reichert & Knepp Wrecker Service, and Crouse Wrecker Service.
The crash remains under investigation by the KCSO FACT Team.
