Ginger L. Walters Summers
Ginger L. Walters Summers, 77, of rural Claypool, passed unexpectedly at her residence on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024.
Ginger was born on Dec. 24, 1946 in Warsaw. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Doris (Foltz) Thomas. Ginger attended Mentone and Burket Schools and was an active participant in 4-H throughout her life. In her early years, Ginger married Stephen L. Walters, they later parted ways.
Ginger was a farmer’s wife, as well as working for Tippecanoe Valley, Whitko, Head Start, Edgewood, and U.S. Metals. Additionally, Ginger was owner of G&G Tax, where she diligently prepared taxes since 1977.
She married Michael Summers in 2019, he preceded her on Feb. 14, 2022.
Ginger enjoyed sewing, crocheting blankets for St. Jude, as well as hats. She spent countless hours working on diamond dot projects, bowling, gardening, and canning. Dining out was a favorite pastime, and grabbing her favorite drink, a caramel macchiato. Ginger cherished family vacations and loved spending quality time with her family.
Her sweet tooth led her to savor 69 cent small cones, and she often explored the aisles of crafting stores, with Hobby Lobby being a favorite. Recently, she was attending Cook’s Chapel of Warsaw.
She is survived by her daughters Stephanie Olson and Gina and husband Jason Slone both of Warsaw, a son Rodney and wife Mary Walters of Mishawaka, and grandchildren Brooke Bri-Ann Tapper, Rodney Cameron Walters, Patrick and wife Jessica Olson, and Tabitha Jade Walters, a great grandson Kymani Tapper; brother Roger and wife Deb Thomas of Pierceton.
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Mike.
Following Ginger’s wishes, no service will be held at this time.
The arrangements have been entrusted to King Memorial Home, 101 N, Tucker St., Mentone.
