Loretta L. Blackburn
Loretta L. Blackburn, “The Legend,” 84, went to her heavenly home Thursday, July 25, 2024.
Born in Prestonsburg, Ky., on May 23, 1940, Loretta was the daughter of Kennel and Hattie (Kraft) Powers.
On Aug. 19, 1958, in Prestonsburg, Loretta married Walter Blackburn, and they then made Warsaw their home in 1959. They were members of Early Apostolic Bible Training Center in Claypool.
She worked for Maple Leaf Farms, retiring after 48 years and where she acquired the nickname “The Legend.” After retirement, she worked at McDonald’s for a few years.
Loretta was spunky, stubborn and sassy all rolled into one. She was devoted to God and found joy in reading her Bible daily. She adored her grandchildren and being with family. Loretta enjoyed doing word finds and spoiling her fur babies, Duke and Sassy.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Agustin) Acosta, of Kendallville, Patsy Howard, of Warsaw, Walter (Creassia) Blackburn Jr., of Mentone, and Sherry (Randy) Pridemore, of New Castle; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and stepsisters, Sylvia Daugherty and Geraldine Collins.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Sr., in 2009; her parents; six sisters; and one brother.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, in the funeral home with Pastor Glen Hughes and Pastor Creassia Blackburn officiating. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the funeral.
Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
