Pierceton Man Arrested For Burglarizing Residence, Stealing Items

PIERCETON — A Pierceton man was recently arrested for allegedly burglarizing a home and stealing items.
Benjamin Scott Wells, 37, 302 W. Pine St., Pierceton, is charged with burglary, a level 4 felony; theft, a class A misdemeanor; and theft with a prior conviction enhancement, a level 6 felony.
On June 5, a Pierceton Police officer responded to a burglary at a residence. The homeowner said he left his home on June 4 and returned June 5. When the homeowner returned, he noticed a window screen at his residence was missing.
According to court documents, the homeowner also noticed his living room’s camera was moved and checked the footage, which showed a man inside his residence looking around.
The homeowner told the officer an Amazon Fire tablet and vehicle scan tool were stolen from his residence. Officers were able to identify the person in the home as Wells.
In an interview with officers on June 6, Wells admitted to committing the burglary and gave officers the Amazon Fire tablet and vehicle scan tool.
Wells has prior convictions for theft and making a false sales document in Kosciusko County. He also has prior convictions for theft and forgery in Howard and Miami Counties.
Wells was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on July 23.
