MENTONE — A Mentone woman was recently arrested for allegedly battering a man.

Brittney G. Oswalt, 36, 518 N. Franklin St., Mentone, is charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.

On July 20, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a fight at a Mentone residence. A man said a woman, later identified as Oswalt, broke his nose.

According to court documents, Oswalt gave conflicting statements about the fight and admitted to having a few drinks before the incident. She said the man “curb stomped” her face, but deputies did not notice any injuries on Oswalt.

The man said Oswalt hit his face. Medical personnel at the scene said the man had a deformed nose and fresh blood in one nostril. The man said he had previously broke his nose.

A witness said she saw the man and Oswalt fighting, with Oswalt on the ground and the man on top of her.

Oswalt was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on July 20.
