Randall Sons — UPDATED
Randall “Randy” Sons, 73, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home in Warsaw on Saturday, July 13, 2024. He was born on Aug. 9, 1950, in Medora, to Willie “Bill” and Bessie “Esta” (Graham) Sons. Randy spent much of his young life in Jackson County and graduated from Medora High School with the Class of 1968. Randy proudly served with the Air Force in Vietnam and was a longtime member of VFW 1126.
Randy was married to the love of his life, Gretchen Dee Boswell, on Oct. 28, 1978. For 20 years they built a life together, including the raising of two children, before her untimely passing on Jan. 20, 1999; a piece of his heart went with her.
He was best remembered as a master craftsman. His exceptional skills in carpentry focused on cabinetry and trim work. Working for various local cabinet companies, Randy will be remembered as a boss who was a natural teacher and a well-respected businessman. He enjoyed fishing and socializing with friends at his favorite watering hole. Those who knew Randy best will remember him at home in his favorite chair. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle.
Surviving with memories that will be treasured for a lifetime include children, Amanda Sons (husband, Edward Rake) and Byron Sons, of Warsaw; grandchildren, Ashlyn “Kris,” Eric, Evan and Kody Trzcinski, of Warsaw; sister, Lavena Rose “Becki” Combs, of Seymour; nieces and nephew, Jessica, Monica and Brandon; and his cat, Cali.
Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, is entrusted with Randy’s care. The family is grieving privately. A graveside service is being planned for a later date when Randy will be laid to rest beside the love of his life, Gretchen.
