Barroquillo Arrested For OWI After Driving West In Eastbound Lanes Of US 30

PIERCETON — A Fort Wayne woman was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after an officer saw her driving west in US 30’s eastbound lanes.
Kayla Nicole Barroquillo, 30, Fort Wayne, is charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a class C misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle with an ACE of 0.08 or more with a prior conviction, a level 6 felony.
On June 21, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lanes of US 30, near CR 900E in Pierceton. The deputy pulled the vehicle over and identified the driver as Barroquillo.
According to court documents, Barroquillo seemed oblivious to the fact she drove on the wrong side of the road. The deputy noticed Barroquillo exhibiting physical signs of intoxication and she failed several field sobriety tests.
Barroquillo allegedly refused to take portable breath and certified chemical tests.
Certified chemical test results are pending. While being placed in custody, Barroquillo tested 0.14% BrAC on a portable breath test.
Barroquillo was previously convicted of OWI in Noble County in July 2019.
Barroquillo has already been arrested and released on bond.
