Trent Furnivall
Trent R. Furnivall, 35, of Elkhart, formerly of Etna Green, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 27, 2024. He was born July 22, 1988, in Warsaw, the son of Brenda (Neher) Blacklaw and Troy Furnivall. He graduated from Triton High School in 2007.
Growing up, Trent loved sports and hanging out with friends and family. He excelled in football, basketball and track through high school, gaining many honors, awards and records in his passion sports of football and track.
Following high school, Trent worked many jobs, always trying to find his niche. He often spoke of his favorite job, working for Reinholt’s Town Square Furniture; he loved working with all the guys up there.
One of Trent’s biggest passions was collecting and trading sports cards. He was always chatting about who or what he had just bought, sold or traded for. He also loved talking sports often, debating (trash talking) on who was better, Michael Jordan or Lebron James, with family members.
Trent is survived by his parents, Brenda Blacklaw, Bourbon, and Troy and Kim (Vanderpool) Furnivall, Warsaw. Also surviving are his son, Kai David Furnivall, of Elkhart, and loving partner, Chelsea Bontrager, Elkhart. Other survivors include siblings, sisters Danielle Blacklaw, Plymouth, Haley (Tabor) Morten, South Bend, Alexis (Gomer) Jones, Elkhart, Heather Blacklaw, Lakeville, Katie Furnivall (David Turner), Oak Creek, Colo., and Sara (Brad) Carter, Memphis, Tenn., and finally, after six sisters, his little brother, Gabe Furnivall (Lizzie Konen), Steamboat Springs, Colo. He also is survived by nephews, Ozzy Blacklaw and Jax Turner; niece, Violet Turner; maternal grandfather, Donald Neher, North Manchester, and grandmother, Dee Vanderpool, Warsaw; paternal grandparents, Dave and Linda Furnivall, Warsaw; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Trent was preceded in death by grandparents, Jean Neher and Ron “Mick” Vanderpool.
Trent had a great heart, loved many and was loved by many. A celebration of Trent’s life will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Baker Youth Club, 1401 E. Smith St., Warsaw. A service will begin at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome.
