Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Post Troopers Celebrate Milestone Anniversaries

FORT WAYNE — On June 13, Indiana State Police troopers that graduated with the 57th ISP Academy Class surpassed their 25th year of service.
Master Trooper Marc Leatherman currently serves as the Area II Crash Reconstruction Team Leader, a full-time position that was created in 2023 to provide oversight and technical management of the more serious technical crash investigations across the northeast Indiana region. He has been a certified Crash Reconstruction Investigator since 2005, and managing the technical crash investigations in a part-time role since 2013.
Leatherman is a lifelong resident of Noble County. He graduated from Central Noble High School in 1991, and attended Ball State University from 1991 to 1993. After graduating the ISP Academy in 1999, he was first assigned to patrol duties at the Peru Post before being transferred to his home district at the Fort Wayne Post. From 2000 to 2003, he worked patrol in Noble, LaGrange, and Whitley Counties.
Alongside his daily patrol and crash investigation responsibilities, Leatherman also has served as the ISP youth camp director held at Trine University for the past 14 years. He served on the ISP Underwater Search & Rescue Team for 10 years, currently serves as a firearms instructor, and is a member of the ISP Honor Guard.
Master Trooper Joel Lemmon currently serves as the District Firearms Training Coordinator for the Fort Wayne Post. In this capacity, Lemmon is responsible for management, scheduling, and conducting the district’s annual firearms training and qualification courses for all troopers in the district. Lemmon is also certified as a taser instructor and a Tac Med instructor. He had previously served as the assistant commander for the tactical intervention platoon.
Lemmon is a lifelong resident of Columbia City. He graduated from Columbia City High School in 1991 and attended IPFW from 1991 to 1995. After his graduation from the ISP Academy in 1999, he was first assigned to the Indiana Toll Road. In 2001, he was transferred to his home district at the Fort Wayne Post and assigned patrol duties in DeKalb County and then Whitley County.
