Steven L. Watkins — UPDATED
Steven L. Watkins, 73, of Bourbon, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, in Esther’s House of Elkhart.
Steven was born to Robert and Irma (Schaetzle) Watkins on Sept. 14, 1950, in Warsaw. He graduated from Triton High School in 1968 and attended college. He served in the United States Army from Jan. 16, 1970, through Aug. 13, 1971. He married PJ (Scott) Watkins on July 20, 1974. He worked as an independent owner/operator truck driver. He was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed restoring vehicles, watching westerns and veteran networks, working with his hands and around the house, but he loved spending time with his family the most. He was also an avid animal lover and supported Canines for Warriors.
Steven is survived by his wife, PJ, of Bourbon; his daughter, Suzanne (Chad) Baugh, of Piqua, Ohio; his son, Grant (Brittany) Watkins, of Bourbon; his grandchildren, Brooke (Ben), Colin, Kendahl and Ella; his sister, Joyce Kundrick, of Sebring, Fla.; and his brothers, Gary (Julie) Watkins, of Lake Placid, Fla., and Larry (Vickie) Watkins, of Argos.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Irma Watkins.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Kristin Harp officiating. The burial will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, with military honors.
