Jennifer Neer

Jennifer Maria Neer (née Hanson) passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Fla., surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Dec. 31, 1956, in New Orleans, she entered the world as the first of six children to Robert “Sarge” and Paula Hanson (née Loga).

She is survived by her husband, Giles Lee Neer, and their seven children: Joshua (Robert), Joseph, John (Kristi), Victoria (Roger), Teri (Claudio), Jacob (Tera) and Rachel; eight grandchildren: Chloe, Ethan, Lazarus, Ava, Vivian, Lilyan, Macy and Graham; and two great-grandchildren: Felix and Damon. She also leaves behind her mother; siblings: Joyce (Jim), Bill (Sue), Bobby (Susie), Jaymme (Jay) and Chris; several nieces and nephews; and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father; grandson, Aiden; and niece, Angie.

Jennifer was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School and spent many years employed at R.R. Donnelley & Sons. For more than 30 years, she made her home in rural Akron before relocating to Tampa, Fla.

Jennifer and Giles were married on March 15, 1975, and their union was renewed in the Catholic faith on March 30, 2024. In this time of mourning, the family finds solace in knowing that Jennifer’s life journey ended on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Jennifer’s strong heart mirrored that of our Heavenly Mother’s — nurturing, compassionate and boundless in love. Her legacy of kindness and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
