Burchett Arrested For Allegedly Resisting Law Enforcement
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested for allegedly fleeing on a mini dirt bike from law enforcement.
Theodore William Dean Burchett, 24, 1921 Miami Drive, Warsaw, is charged with resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony.
On April 8, a Warsaw detective responded to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival at the scene, the detective saw two people on mini dirt bikes leave the area, disregarding a stop sign and traveling at a high rate of speed. A pursuit then occurred, with one of the drivers, who is unnamed in court documents, being handcuffed by law enforcement. The second driver continued fleeing from police.
According to court documents, officers continued to follow the driver, later identified as Burchett. He failed to signal turns, disregarded stop signs and traveled at 45 mph in a 20-mph zone. Burchett also drove on a paved pedestrian/bicyclist path, causing pedestrians and bicyclists to quickly exit the area. Officers then lost sight of Burchett as he entered a wooded area.
Responding Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the mini dirt bike at a Warsaw residence and located Burchett inside the home. Burchett apologized for fleeing from law enforcement and said he was scared.
Burchett has already been arrested and released on bond.
