Warsaw Teenager Arrested For Intimidation, Domestic Battery
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw teenager was recently arrested for allegedly making threats and battering a woman.
John Gomez Jr., 18, 4133 N. Old Port Road, Warsaw, is charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; domestic battery committed in the presence of a child, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On April 12, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of Gomez fighting with a woman at a residence in Warsaw. While deputies were en route, they received information about Gomez being armed with a gun and waving it around. Gomez also left the residence prior to officers’ arrival.
According to court documents, officers established a perimeter around the area and used K9s and drones to attempt to locate Gomez. A woman at the residence said she and Gomez had a verbal argument which turned physical when Gomez allegedly elbowed her in the nose. Gomez was holding a child when this happened.
As the altercation continued, Gomez waved a firearm around and said he would kill anyone who tried to touch or take the child. Gomez became more upset when he learned police were called, eventually relinquishing the child and leaving the scene on foot.
Officers searched for Gomez for about an hour before terminating the track and leaving the scene.
A short time later, KCSO was dispatched to the residence again, as Gomez had returned. Gomez was taken into custody and did not have the firearm in his possession when he was arrested.
Gomez was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on April 12.
