Purdue extending admission, housing deadlines
News Release
WEST LAFAYETTE — Purdue University is once again extending deadlines for admissions and housing due to delays regarding the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The extension was announced by university officials Thursday, April 18.
Students will now have until June 1 to accept offers from the university.
Issues stem from problems related to the updated FAFSA form, released three months later than normal and filled with glitches. Many students who filed their forms have not received college financial aid offers.
Initially Purdue extended its admission deadline to May 15, but has now decided to push the date back further.
Officials are stating they do not have correct records for half of the prospective students and may not have the information until May 1 or even later.
The university is planning to start sending award notifications at the end of April to those students it has correct information.
It is also extending the priority deadline for learning communities and mutually selected roommates to May 20 and the overall housing deadline extended to June 5.
Purdue is not the only university extending deadlines. Other universities around the state have also pushed their admission deadlines. Indiana University’s admission deadline is currently May 14. Ball State, University of Southern Indiana and Indiana State University have deadlines of June 1.
