Barbara Joan Ault, 76, of rural Akron, passed away at 11:27 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2024, at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital of Warsaw.
Barb was born on Jan. 16, 1948, in Warsaw, to the late Lewis William and Betty (Dare) Hite. On March 6, 1965, she married William Richard Ault, who survives. Barb was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She assisted in all duties on the farm and later became the family babysitter for her grandkids. She loved her family and was very protective of them. She enjoyed having the family together, especially on Easter and Christmas. Her favorite thing was setting up the annual Easter egg hunt. If you stopped by to visit, she always enjoyed socializing at the table with a cup of coffee.
She is survived by her husband, Dick Ault, of Akron; daughters, Cheryl Hiatt, of Warsaw, and Tammy and husband Doug Shively, of Akron; grandchildren, Brandon and wife Natasha Ault, of Warsaw, Toni Shambaugh, of Akron, Whitney and husband Jeremy Mack, of Goshen; great-grandchildren, Galvin, Thad, Soleil, Lily, Isaiah, Kaizer and twins Roman and Nora Pohl; sisters, Lella Holbrook, of Warsaw, and Suzanne Hyden, of Mentone; and a brother, Bob and Connie Hite, of Akron.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Hite and Lois Ruth Poe; and brothers, Sam Hite, Bill Hite, David Hite and John Hite.
The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Glen Hughes officiating.
The interment will take place following the service in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine.
Visitation hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
