AKRON — A Silver Lake man was arrested in Fulton County after he seriously injured a man following a road rage incident.
Graham Levi Groninger, 33, 15487 E. 350S, Silver Lake, is charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony.
On March 29, a Fulton County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a battery report and vehicle accident near Akron. Upon arrival at the scene, the deputy spoke to a man with facial injuries.
According to court documents, the man said a Toyota Tundra passed him on SR 14 and was driving slow in front of him. The man said he then passed the Toyota and was attempting to turn his semi onto CR 100N when the semi’s trailer caught the front of the Toyota. The Toyota’s driver, later identified as Groninger, then exited his vehicle and attacked the man.
The deputy noticed the man’s left eye was swollen shut and he had other lacerations above and below his eye.
A witness said she saw Groninger attack the man and witnessed him kick the man’s face while the man was laying on the ground.
Groninger allegedly said the man got in his face and pushed him by placing his hand on his face. Officers did not notice any visible signs of injury on Groninger.
Medics at the scene later informed officers that the man had multiple broken facial bones and was being taken to a trauma center for emergency surgery.
Groninger was booked in the Fulton County Jail on March 29.
